AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution for advisory commission appointments. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No. No. BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The City has four Advisory Commissions including: Planning; Parks and Recreation; Public Safety and Heritage Preservation. On February 28, 2022, there will be eight expiring Commission seat appointments. City staff advertised for Advisory Commission applicants through the City website and the Star News beginning in early December. The deadline to submit applications was January 14, 2022, with the City receiving applications from 11 individuals. The City Council interviewed the candidates on February 9, 2022 and directed staff to prepare the attached resolution appointing applicants. BUDGET INFORMATION FUNDING: BUDGETED: N/A N/A CITY OF OTSEGO COUNTY OF WRIGHT STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO: 2022-17 APPOINTING COMMISSIONERS TO ADVISORY COMMISSIONS. WHEREAS, the City has established advisory commissions including the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Heritage Preservation Commission and Public Safety Commission; and, WHEREAS, individuals are appointed to serve on these advisory commissions in accordance with the City Code and bylaws of each body and at the discretion of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, the terms of several of the individuals appointed to these advisory commissions will expire on February 28, 2022; and, WHEREAS, the City Council must make appointments to the new terms of these advisory commission positions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA: 1. That the following appointments are hereby made to the respective City advisory commission: Planning Commission ▪ Laurie Jones for term expiring February 28, 2026. Heritage Preservation Commission ▪ Cara Husak for the term expiring February 28, 2026. ▪ John Waldron (Alternate) for the term expiring February 28, 2026. ▪ Kathleen Beaudry for the term expiring February 29, 2024. Public Safety Commission ▪ Paul Fields for the term expiring February 28, 2026. ▪ John Braun for the term expiring February 28, 2026. ▪ Mark Wolf for the term expiring February 28, 2025.
