AGENDA ITEM DETAILS
RECOMMENDATION:
City staff recommends the City Council accept the quotes and to authorize the 2022 crack filling project.
ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED?
No No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Annually, as part of the City’s Pavement Management Program, the City contracts for the crack filling of
City streets. Crack filling is being recommended on all City streets that will be receiving a fog/seal coating.
Some of the streets are recent overlay projects or newly constructed streets that will be receiving their
initial crack fill while most of the streets being crack filled have already had a seal coat and the existing
cracking filling needs to be over-banded as a routine repair.
Staff has requested quotes from Asphalt Concrete Solutions, Inc. (ACS) and Bargen, Inc. and has received
per pound quotes of $2.48 and $4.49 respectively. Staff is recommending that ACS complete the 2022
crack filling project for a total not to exceed the 2022 budget of $82,806. ACS has performed the City’s
crack filling projects since 2018 and have done a great job.
The Public Works Subcommittee was presented this information at their May 18 meeting with
recommendation for City Council consideration and approval.
