RE: Wayfinding Project Update
At May's Park and Recreation Commission meeting, Kim Welter from designKW presented her
work on sign concepts she had created for the wayfinding project. These signs will be placed
throughout the Otsego parks system. Park identification, park amenities, directional signage,
athletic complexes, and rules signs were presented. Ms. Welter discussed her initial designs
and received feedback on how to proceed.
Ms. Welter has updated the signage according to the feedback received from the May meeting.
She has moved the logo as requested. She also created a small park sign, that will be placed at
alternative entrances of parks,to help park patrons know they have entered the park. Also, initial
trail signage has been designed. A small placard with a QR code is the preliminary design for
trail signage. When trail users scan the QR code it will populate a trail map, which identifies
major trails and distances. The map will have main roads and neighborhoods for reference.
After doing an assessment of sign needs, Ms. Welter has updated the Archery Range signage.
This completes the signage needs for Prairie Park.
After this second round of review, public engagement will be needed to fulfill the grant
obligations. HKGi is currently working on an online survey, residents will be able to give
feedback on signage. This corresponds perfectly with the grant timeline, and the October
completion date.
