10-02-1978 Town Board MinutesMinutes of the Board of Audit of the Town of Otsego Town Board Meeting held this 2nd day of October, 1978. Lloyd Beaudry, Chairman, Virginia Bistodeau and William Schulz, Supervisors, Jerome Perrault, Clerk, Betty Adkins, Asst. Clerk, Lewis Pouliot, Tres. were present. State of Minn. County of Wright, Town of Otsego 0.J. Arlien addressed the Board in regards to his running for the position of Co. Auditor at the General Election. Whereas Betty Adkins has determined be census that the Town of Otsego has more than 1200 people living in platted areas and whereas the town- ship meets the requirements of Minn. Statutes 368 et.al. which grants it the powers of an urban town and whereas it is the desire of the town Board of the Town of Otsego to operate as an urban town under Statute 368 etal.,now therefore be it resolved by the town Board of the Town of Otsego that it operate under Minn. Statute 368 etal., as an Urban Town. Motion to adopt resolution made by Lloyd Beaudry, seconded by William Schulz, passed unanimously. Andrew Merges, Jr. appeared before the Board to discuss his salary for the coming assessing year. Last year he received a salary of 2 mil per dollar of assessed valuation, the present assessed valuation is $8,505,998 and 2 mil would be a salary of $4,253.00 Motion was made by William Schulz that the assessor be paid on the basis of an assessed valuatio of $8,505,998 at a rate of z mil per dollar of assessed valuation with the final payment to be based on the as- sessed valuation figures available in August of 1979. Seconded by Virginia Bistodeau, passed unanimously. The Town Board of the Town of Otsego adopted the following resolut- ion: Be it resolved that the Town Board of the Town of Otsego desires to have all elected and appointed officials of the Town of Otsego covered by the Township Workmens Compensation Insurance Policy. Motion to adopt resolution made by Lloyd Beaudry seconded by Virginia Bistodeau, passed unanimously. An Ordinance (full text of which is on record in the Town Book of Ordinances) establishing a Commission to plan for the Physical Develop- ment of the Urban Town of Otsego and to recommend a zoning plan was passed by the Town Board of the Town of Otsego this 2nd day of October, 1978. The potential hazard of the manure pits now in existance and being built in the township was discussed by the Town Board. The possibility of requireing that they be fenced to prevent small children from enter- ing the pit was discussed. Proceeding as a board of audit the Town Board audited and allowed verified accts. Nos. 158 to 198 inclusive. On motion, the meeting adjourned. Attest: RESOLUTION ADOPTING URBAN POWERS UNDER MINNESOTA STATUTE 368, ETAL. WHEREAS, Betty Adkins, Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota, has determined that the Town of Otsego, has more than 1,200 people residing in platted areas within the Town, and WHEREAS, this meets the requirements of Minnesota Statute 368, etal., which relates to the powers of certain metropolitan area towns, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Town Board of Otsego, as so indicated on October 2, 1978, that...the Town operate under the powers uranted by Minnesota Statute 368, etal. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Board of the Town of Otsego, that it operate under Minnesota Statute 368, etal., as an Urban Town.
