The Town Board discussed Darkenwald's (owner of Riverbend Park) use of the Community Building in Riverbend Park as an office building. He has moved into the mezzanine floor as office space for the manage- ment of the Park. Frank Cliff, a resident of the Park appeared be- fore the Board and expressed -his concern ofEhe use of the building. Residents of the Park use the building for social functions and also as a storm shelter. The Board felt that as long as it was used only for a park management office, it would be a permissable use, but if used as an office for business outside of the Park, it would be a commercial use and the Park is zoned residential. Motion by William Schulz to have Betty Adkins send a letter to Darkenwald requesting that he state in writing that he intends to use the office for Park management only. Seconded by Virginia Bistodeau, passed unanimously. Warren Phillips, of the Tom Thumb Store, requested the Board to inquire of the Co. Sheriff as to how much time they spend patrolling in the Township. He was robbed on New Years Eve and is concerned about protection. Lloyd Beaudry advised he will contact the Co. Sheriff's office to see how much time they spend in the township. A vacancy exists on the Township Planning Commission. Frank Cliff expressed an interest in the position. Bids were recieved for the sale of the Town Hall Suspended furnace unit. Don Greninger presented a bid of $125.00 and Wil Nordin a bid of $75.00. The Board rejected the bids feeling they were too low. Andy Golfus of the Great River Road Project contacted Betty Adkins and said they are still interested in the Lily Pond Land Park site and need a sponsor. The Great River Road project will fund 70% of the cost of the Park. The Town Board would have to pay 15% of the cost of the Park if they agreed to be a sponsor. The Board advised Betty Adkins to contact Ron McPlanial, owner of the area, to see if he would accept a lower price than the approximately $74,000.00 offered by the D.N.R. for the 5 acres of land. The Board feels they would not consider helping purchase the land unless the purchase price was considerably less.
