08-30-1982 Special Meeting MinutesState of Minnesota The Town Board of the Town of Otsego met this
County of Wright 30th day of August at 8:00 p.m. William
Town of Otsego Schulz, Chairman; Douglas Lindenfelser and
Floyd Roden, Supervisors; Betty Adkins, Deputy
Clerk; were present. This is a special meeting called to discuss the
Elk River Fire Contract with the Elk River Administrator, Bob Middaugh.
William Schulz asked Mr. Midduagh for a description of the fire
departments budget. Mr. Middaugh stated the 1981 budget was approx-
imately $72,000. of that $22,700. is salaries and the remainder is
repair and miscellaneous. An estimate for 1982 is $60,000 to $65,000.
plus a $20,000 for a new truck. 1981 had an approximate budget of
$56,000. to $58,000. Salaries and maintenance breakdown remain quite
consistent.
The method of arriving at a contract cost was discussed. William
Schulz asked for another formula to be considered. Bob Middaugh felt
their method was fair. He stated that one-third to one-half of the
calls go to Otsego Township.
An Otsego resident felt this was fair, William Schulz stated he
would like an operating budget presented yearly so we know where we
stand. Bob Middaugh agreed to do that.
A suggestion from the floor was made that member of the Town
Board should be present at the City budget preparation.
Bob Middaugh agreed he would work with the Township to keep us
informed as to the operating cost as they do rise.
In discussion of the contract itself, Mr. Middaugh agreed to add
a sentence or two to cover complete coverage of the Township regard-
less of a fire taking place in the city of Elk River. Elk River does
have a mututal agreement with Big Lake and Albertville.
Mr. Middaugh agreed to send information over to the Township
and will review the contracts.
