06-17-1985 Town Board MinutesState of Minnesota The Town Board of the Town of Otsego met this
County of Wright 17 day of June, 1985, at 8:00 p.m. Floyd Roden,
Town of Otsego Chairman; Douglas Lindenfelser and Norman Freske,
Supervisors; Jerome Perrault, Clerk; and Lani
Will, Deputy Clerk, were present.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Floyd Roden. The
minutes of the June 3, 1985, Town Board meeting were approved as read.
Gerri Bakusky of the Wright County Extension Office addressed
the meeting concerning the EFNEP program. (Expanded Food and Nutrition
Education Program). The program is a free nutrition education program
designed to help young families on a limited income to learn more about
food purchasing, preservation, and preparing food, also what are the most
nutritious foods to fit their budgets. She encouraged young families
to contact her and she will come out to their homes and explain the
program to them.
Scott Ellingson appeared before the Board to request a rear lot
setback variance to 15 feet instead of 50 feet as required by the
County Ordinance. He lives at 11664 NE 95th Street in Section 13,
Range 24. The Otsego Planning Commission approved the variance on con-
ditbn that he contact his neighbors before the June 17, 1985 Town
Board meeting. His neighbor is Clerk Jerome Perrault and Mr Perrault
said he had no objection to the variance.
Motion by Douglas Lindenfelser to approve the rear lot setback
variance request of Scott Ellingson to build a storage building 15 feet
from the rear lot line instead of 50 feet. Seconded by Norman Freske,
passed unanimously.
Harold Vetsch appeared before the Board to request a conditional
use permit to place a mobile home on his farm as a farm accessory for
his son and wife to live in.
Motion by Norman Freske to approve the request of Harold Vetsch for
a conditional use permit to place a mobile home on his farm as a farm
accessory. Seconded by Douglas Lindenfelser, passed unanimously.
Keith Evenson appeared before the Board to request an extension
of his temporary use permit to conduct his salvage lumber business in
the exsisting building for another year. He felt he needed more time
to decided whether to find a different location for his business or
build a new building further back on his lot.
Motion by Floyd Roden to grant Keith Evenson a one year extension
uf his temporary use permit. Seconded by Douglas Lindenfelser, passed
nanimously.
Jim Spencer appeared before the Board to request a slit of 26 acre
parcel of Ag land into a 16 acre and a 10 acre parcel. The land is owned
by Lloyd Anderson and is located at the SE corner of the junction of
Nashua Avenue and 85th Street. The exsisting building would remain
with the 10 acre parcel and Mr Spencer would purchase the 16 acre parcel.
Motion by Douglas Lindenfelser to approve the splitting of the 26
acre parcel of Ag land owned by Lloyd Anderson into a 10 acre parcel
and a 16 acre parcel, both to remain Ag land. Seconded by Floyd Roden,
passed unanimously.
Donna Valerius appeared before the Board to request a variance
of the 1 per 40 break to allow her son to build a home on her 54
acre farm located in the N1; of the NE'k of Section 12, Range 24.
Motion by Floyd Roden to approve the variance of the 1 per 40 break
for Donna Valerius iwth the condition that there be no additional breaks
in the future. Seconded by Norman Freske, passed unanimously.

Harry Seidenkranz appeared before the Board to request a variance
to build a pole building larger than 800 feet on his lot at 15407 93rd
Street NE (Mississippi Shores Addition). He wants to build a 36 x 24
pole building (864 sq ft).
Motion by Norman Freske to approve the variance request of Harry
Seidenkranz with the provision that the side walls be no more than 12
feet. Also contingent upon approval of the Otsego Planning Commission
at their next meeting. Seconded by Floyd Roden, passed unanimously.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cook who live in Mississippi Shores complained
about trespassing on their lot. Children and teenagers walk across
their lot or run across it with bikes and snowmobiles. The Board ad-
vised them to put up No -Trespassing signs and consider having the
Sheriff patrol the area.
Craig and Martha Peterson appeared before the Board to request a
permit to move a house onto their lot to replace a mobile home. Their
lot is located on part of the IA.. of the 10; of the SES of Section 14,
Range 24, on Kahler Avenue.
Motion by Douglas Lindenfelser to approve the permit request of
Craig and Martha Peterson to move a house onto their lot. Seconded by
Floyd Roden, passed unanimously.
Mark Ford appeared to request a variance to build a home 75 feet
from the centerline of County Road 36 instead of the 130 feet required
by the County Ordinances. His lot is between County Road 36 and the
Mississippi River and he cannot build closer than 200 feet from the
bluff line or 100 feet from the high water mark. The house on the lot
next to his is 69 feet from the centerline of the road.
Motion by Douglas Lindenfelser to approve the centerline setback
variance request of Mark Ford to build a home 75 feet from the centerline
of County Road 36. Seconded by Floyd Roden, passed unanimously.
Guy Rowe appeared to request a setback variance from 87th Street.
He wishes to build a shed closer than 65 feet as required by the County
Ordinance for a setback from a township street. Next to his lot 87th
Street has been platted but not constructed. The Town Board advised
him they will do a site inspection before making a decision.
Motion by Floyd Roden to approve the request of Thomas Theisen to
build an oversized pole building of 816 sq ft instead of the allowed
800 sq ft with the stipulation that the side walls be no more than 12
feet of colored steel, and the building to be completed this year.
Seconded by Douglas Lindenfelser, passed unanimously.
Proceeding as a Board of Audit, the Town Board audited and allowed
vertified accounts numbers 143 to 154 inclusive.
On motion, the meeting adjourned.
