man, Floyd Roden and Douglas
Lindenfelser, Supervisors, Elaine
Beatty, Deputy Clerk, Jerome Perrault, Clerk, Andrew
Merges, Assessor, and Duane Swenson, Deputy County Assessor
were present.
The Board of Review was called to order by Chairman,
Norman Freske,
Robert Steinhaus, of 14598 NE 84th St. Lot 8, Block 1,
Vasseur's 2nd Addition, feels the valuation of $45,100 is too
high. Andrew Merges said the valuation of the home, a double
wide did drop $6,000.00 from 1989, the lot is valued at
$15,000. Andrew Merges said it is valued the same ac similar
double wides. Andrew agreed to re -check his home.
Michael Danielson, who owns Lot 5, Block 6, Mississippi
Shores 4th Add. complained that his property is valued too
high at $74,900. Andrew Merges said the valuation of the
home increased by $1,500 as it is a split entry. Andrew
agreed to re -check his home.
Arlene Holen of Hylo Acres, said she is concerned about
the increased valuation on the bare lots in Hylo Acres.
Andrew Merges said all lots have increased to $10,000 for
bare lots.
On her own home, she said she does not have a full
basement. Andrew Merges explained that basements are only
$3.00 per sq. ft. She said the small building listed as a
guest house is not, it is only a shed and in poor condition
and the swimming pool is only a trout pool. Andrew agreed to
recheck her property.
Winifred Friendshuh, of Route 2, Box 103, Monticello,
complained that the value of her Ag Land is too high. The
taxable value increased from $43,500 to $48,400. Mr. Swenson
explained the increase was due to the increase in the vallu.e
of pasture land to the same as C tillable.
Ronald Wright of 14311 - 91st St. Lot 5, Block 2, Great
River Acres 1st Add, asked why his property increased by
$6,000.00 Andrew Merges said Central Air increased the
valuation by $1,200.00 and all homes were increased in
valuation. Also the classification of the house was
increased from a D6 to a D6.5.
Michael Lenneman, of 9553 Parrish Ave., Lot 18, Block
Mississippi Shores 2nd Addition is valued at $67,100. He
said he purchased it for $57,000 as it is next to Co. 42 and
will lose part of his lot due to construction of Co.42. He
said the home is in need of repair. Andrew agreed to re-
check his property.
John Lenz, of 16234 Jarvis St., who owns the West 66 ft.
of Lot 1, Block 1, Grupas's Addition, and 23 acres in Sec. 17
(LKots 3 & 4) complained that the valuation of the West 66
ft. of Loi: 1, Block 1, used as a driveway is valued at $6,700
and that is too high for a driveway.

Motion by Norman Freske to reduce the valuation from $6,700.
to $500.00 on condition that it is only .9 acres. Seconded
by Doug Lindenfelser, all Board Members voted in favor of the
motion.
Robert Erickson, who owns Lot 4, Block 1, Walesch
Estates 2nd Addition, complained that valuation of his
property increased from $31,000 to $49,300. He said the
sewer system is not working. Andrew recommended lowering the
value of the lot from $15,000 to $11,200. because the sewer
system 1Fr not working.
Motion by Floyd Roden to reduce the valuation of Mr.
Erickson's lot from $15,000 to $11,200. Seconded by Doug
Lindenfelser, all Board Members voted in favor of the motion.
Russell Gunderson of 14266 78th St Lot 13,Block 3,
Waiesch 2nd Addition asked why his single wide mobile home
has increased to $38,800 valuation. Duane Swenson said that
his disability status has been approved and he will be
getting a reduction in his taxes.
Sandra Ernst of 6864 Jaber Ave., said that the taxable
value is $114,400 on her home, the home is not completed and.
has been appraised at $104,000. The appraiser said it needed
$10,000 more to finish the home. Andrew Merges recommended
reducing the valuation to $102,600 as it is 90% completed.
Motion by Douglas Lindenfelser to reduce Sandra Ernst
property to $102,600. Seconded by Floyd Roden, all Board
Members voted in favor of the motion.
Ilene Thackeray, who owns Lot 11, Block 2, Vasseurs 3rd
Addition, said the home on, the property is in bad condition,
and would like to have it re -assessed. Andrew Merges said he
would re -check her property.
A letter was received from James Gerads who owns Lot 7,
Block 1 and the West 45 ft of Lot 8, Block 1, Vasseurs,
complained that the valuation was too high at $33,600. Andrew
Merges recommended no change and the Town Board agreed.
A letter was received from Timothy CJ.ark complaining
that the valuatioin of his property has increased $9000 in
two years and is now at $101,300. The valuation has only
increased $2000 in the last 2 years and Andrew Merges
recommended no change. The Board agreed.
A letter was received from Craig and Robin Lindberg of
10381 Kadler Ave., Lot 9, Block 5, Island View, complaining
that the valuation of their property has increased to
$118,000 and the measurement of their home was wrong. Duane
Swenson said the measurements were checked and corrected two
years ago. The only increase is the overall 2% and Andrew
Merges recommended no change and the Town Board agreed.
Norman Freske said that he had been asked why the taxes
on the Weber property on 80th St. were so high. Duane
Swenson explained that it war; because it was non -homestead.

A call was received from Jim Talbot asking why the
valuation of his island property had. increased so much. Duane
Swenson said it was in the Assessors Book as pasture land and
pasture land has increased to the same valuation as C
tillable. He recommended having the County Assessor's Office
check into the matter comparing similar situations and also
into DNR regulations and restrictions on island property.
The valuation had increased from $10,000 to $30,000.
Donald Weidenbach had asked Andrew Merges why the taxes
on a rental house on his farm had increased so much. Duane
Swenson explained that rental homes on farms no longer
receive an Ag Credit. The property is Parcel No,
214-100-231102.
No one else appeared before the Board of Review. On
motion the Board of Review adjourned.
