COUNTY OF WRIGHT December 23, 1991, at 6.30 PM
CITY OF OTSEGO prior to the start of the regular
City Council Meeting. Norman F.
Freske, Mayor, Doug Lindenfelser, Floyd Roden, Larry
Fournier, and Ron Black, Council Members, Jerome Perrault,
Clerk, Elaine Beatty, Deputy Clerk, Judy Hudson, Secretary,
and Russ Anderson, Elk River Fire Chief, were present.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman F.
Freske.
The Council informed Mr. Anderson that they had
requested him to meet with them to discuss whether the Elk
River Fire Dept. would be willing to increase their service
area in the City of Otsego. The fire department service
contract with the City of Albertville is scheduled to expire
at the end of this year. The City of Monticello has agreed
to service the area West of CO. 19. Mr. Anderson said that
the City of Elk River Fire Dept. would be willing to service
all the area East of Co. 19 which would include adding
Sections 13, 24 and 25 in Range 24 and Sections 19, 29, 30,
31, 32, and 33 in Range 23 to their service area. These
sections are all mainly agricultural.
Mr. Anderson said that Elk River is already servicing 65
1/4% of the population of Otsego and 71 1/2% of the market
value of the Otsego property.
Larry Fournier asked Mr. Anderson how far they can
travel from the Fire Station and still give good coverage.
Mr. Anderson replied they are already servicing areas 8 to 9
miles away although this is a bit far.
Mr. Anderson also said that the City of Otsego would
need to provide information to the 911 system about the
extended coverage area.
On motion the special Meeting adjourned.
