3.1 May 10, 2022
Commissioner Wilson motioned to approve the minutes as written. Seconded by
Commissioner Beaudry. All in favor. Motion carried. 3-0
4. Updates:
4.1 Updates on City Council actions.
City Council CM Brittany updated OHPC on City Council Action Items.
4.2 Updates on Heritage Preservation items.
Any plans for old schoolhouse/city hall on hold until such time as road work on CSAH
39 necessitates changes in the building’s status.
Commissioner Cara Husek resigned as of June 2022; city council received her
resignation.
Commissioner Anderson submitted her resignation in writing tonight.
We may need to change our quorum after these resignations until we are able to recruit
new commissioners. CM Moores will check into this.
5. Annual SHPO Conference.
The conference will be held in Duluth this year. As with every year, it coincides with
Otsego Festival. However, with only 3 active commissioners, we will not be able to attend. Will
need to communicate with Michael Koop regarding this as our CLG status requires us to have
an attendee.
6. Old City Hall/School House.
As above. No plans until later. Not a current priority for city. Building is sound, no
leaking.
7. Archiving Software.
As no commissioner is willing to or able to do this, we will just proceed as before –
digitizing, listing our materials.
8. Otsego View Article.
Commissioner Husek was to be writing an article about the Ebner box factory for the
next View; there is no article. City staff was given a couple of old articles from previous Views
that could be used if needed. Also discussed using the Lefebvre round barn photos for an
article. CM Moores also said that a request or ad for new HPC members will be placed in the
View.
Other ideas for articles include the round barn, the old sign for Barbie’s, Mae Spencer’s
studio building.
9. Otsego Festival.
Council member Moores will try to get us a site near the car show. We will need to plan
for what materials we will need. Commissioner Seroshek will obtain candy to hand out.
Commissioner Waldron will create a poster of the round barn photos to display. Commissioner
Wilson will see if the Spencer’s will again provide us with a tractor or two to show.
10. Lefebvre round barn photos.
Commissioner Beaudry met with Kevin Lefebvre and toured the round barn. She took
several photos with her phone and had some printed at Walgreens. She reports that the tour
was very interesting and that Kevin explained how the barn was built and used. She will work
with Commissioners Wilson and Waldron on the text for the poster for the festival.
11. Adjourn.
Commissioner Wilson motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner Beaudry. All in
favor. Motion carried. 3-0
Adjourned at 7:50 PM.
Minutes taken/written by Commissioner Seroshek.
