City staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution accepting bids and awarding contract for the
Well #10 Project, City Project No. 22-08.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Bids were opened for the Well #10 Project, City Project No. 22-08 on August 30, 2022. A total of one
bid was received as shown on the attached Bid Tabulation.
The 2022-2023 Water Utility Capital Improvement Plan has total funding of $1,430,000 for the Well #10
Project. The Engineers Estimate presented to council for approval of the plans and specifications was
$225,780.00.
The low bid from Traut Companies was in the amount of $159,545.00. Including engineering estimated costs
of 15%, the project cost as bid is $183,476.75, which is within the 2022-2023 CIP budget. City staff recommends
awarding of the contract to the low bidder, Traut Companies. They have drilled wells for the City of Otsego
in the past. The work was completed to specifications and in a timely manner.

RESOLUTION NO: 2022-68
ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of Well #10, City Project No. 22-08,
bids were received, opened on August 30, 2022 and tabulated according to law, and the following bid was
received complying with the advertisement; and
Traut Companies $159,545.00
WHEREAS, it appears that Traut Companies of St. Joseph, Minnesota is the lowest responsible bidder.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Traut
Companies of St. Joseph, Minnesota in the name of the City of Otsego for Well #10, City Project No.
22-08, according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in
the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the bid bond made
with their bids, except that the bid bond of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be
retained until a contract has been signed.
