AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends City Council authorize procurement of a portable generator. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The 2024 Fleet Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes funding for replacement of a portable generator purchased in 2000. The replacement is for one of two existing 150KW sized trailer units and can support power supply for a variety of the City’s lift stations and wells. The equipment is sized to service power needs for critical infrastructure aligning with long term service strategies. The Utility Capital Improvement Plan includes this purchase in 2024 and is expected to have a 25-year useful life. The purchase is recommended to initiate now to meet the anticipated 18-month lead time, which places expected arrival in 2024, and no financial obligation until delivery. Procurement is completed through the Sourcewell Contract meeting government purchasing requirements. The Public Works Subcommittee reviewed this information at their March 22 meeting and recommended consent agenda consideration by the City Council.
