TRUTH IN TAXATION
PUBLIC HEARING
6:00 PM, MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2007
OTSEGO CITY HALL
1. Deguly Mayor Heidner calls the Public Hearing to order:
CM Stockamp called the Public Hearing to order at 6:10 PM.
Roll Call: Councilmembers: Jessica Stockamp, Mark Thorsted and Tom Darkenwald.
Deputy Mayor Vern Heidner arrived at 6:19 PM.
Staff: Mike Robertson, City Administrator; Judy Hudson, City Clerk/Zoning
Administrator and Gary Groen, Finance Director.
2. Presentation by Galy Groen, Finance Director.
Gary Groen gave a presentation on the City's projected revenues and expenditures and
tax capacity rate for the proposed 2008 rate comparing them with past years. It was
noted that Otsegds tax capacity rate is the second lowest in the County and is the
lowest of all the cities around Otsego.
3 Deg& Mayor Heidner will opgn the Public Hearing for comments.
Deputy Mayor Heidner opened the Public Hearing for public comment at 6:20 PM.
(There were four people in attendance).
Tom Nichols, VFW, 7350 Quaday, asked about the VFW s valuation. Deputy Mayor
Heidner explained that tonight's meeting only deals with the City Budget and that any
questions regarding individual property valuation is done at the Board of Review
Meeting held in April, 2008. A notice for the Board of Review is sent to every taxpayer.
4. Dep& Mayor Heidner will dose the Public Hearing.
Hearing no other public comments, Deputy Mayor Heidner dosed the Public Hearing at
6:31 PM.
Two residents arrived after the Public Hearing was dosed thinking the meeting started
at 6:30 PM. Deputy Mayor Heidner and Staff gave them a brief presentation and gave
them handouts.
5. Ajoum.
CM Stockamp motioned to adjourn. CM Darkenwald seconded. All in favor.
Motion carried.
Adjourned at 6:38 PM.
