BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
In January 2022, Wright County initiated an update to the Wright County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan,
which is a required process every five years by the State of Minnesota Department of Homeland Security &
Emergency Management as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The plan addresses the natural hazards that face Wright County and identifies mitigation actions that will
help to reduce or eliminate the impact of future hazard events, such as flooding and severe weather.
City staff has been involved in the update of the plan throughout the process and has helped identify
specific hazards and mitigations actions for the City of Otsego.
Wright County has submitted the plan to FEMA who has provided approval pending adoption by each
jurisdiction within the County. The attached resolution provides adoption of the Wright County Plan by the
City of Otsego and will allow Wright County to complete the update process with the regulatory agencies.
