TRUTH IN TAXATION
PUBLIC HEARING
6:00 PM, MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2006
OTSEGO CITY HALL
1 Mayor Fournier calls the Public Hearing to order:
Mayor Fournier called the Public Hearing to order at 6:00 PM.
Roll Il: Mayor Lang Fournier; Councilmembers: Vem Heidner, Dan Scharber,
Jessica Stockamp and Mark Thorsted. Tom Darkenwald, Council -elect.
Staff: Mike Robertson, City Administrator; Judy Hudson, City Clerk/Zoning
Administrator and Gary Groen, Finance.
2 Staff presentation.
Gary Groen gave a presentation on the City's projected revenues and expenditures and
tax rate.
CM Heidner noted on the first page how Otsego compares to its neighbors at the
second lowest tax rate in Wright County and that Otsego's 26.572 tax rate computes to
property owners paying $265 in taxes per $100,000 in valuation. He also noted the
taxes the City is receiving from the commercial growth.
Mayor Fournier commented the reason Otsego is second lowest in Wright County to
Buffalo is that Buffalo receives 1.4 million dollars in local government aid where Otsego
doesn't receive any.
3 Mavor Fournier will open the Public Hearing for comments.
Mayor Fournier opened the Public Hearing for comments at 6:15 PM.
There were no public comments. (Note: there were four residents attending including
Tom Darkenwald, council -elect)
4 Mayor Fournier will close the Public Hearing.
Mayor Fournier closed the Public Hearing at 6:16 PM.
5. Adjourn.
CM Scharber motioned to adjourn. Seconded by CM ShKkamp. All in favor.
Motion carried.
