City staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution accepting a donation.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
In April of 2023, City staff applied for a Community Safety Grant offered by CenterPoint Energy to be used for safety
equipment. Staff submitted a grant application in the amount of $1,713.68 to be put towards the purchase of a new
800 mhz radio. This is a matching grant and the City will be paying for the other half of the radio.
This is at least the third Community Safety Grant that we have been awarded by CenterPoint Energy and we are
extremely appreciative of their willingness to make these funds available to help in the funding of safety equipment. A
representative will be at the meeting to present this donation to the City Council.

ACCEPTING A COMMUNITY SAFETY GRANT DONATION FROM
CENTERPOINT ENERGY
WHEREAS, CenterPoint Energy has made a cash donation of $1,713.68 to the City of Otsego through the Community Safety
Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the donation to the City is for the purpose of purchasing an 800 mhz radio for safety equipment; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with
the adoption of the governing body; and
WHEREAS, the City sincerely thanks CenterPoint Energy for their generous donation and for its support of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO, MINNESOTA:
1. That the donation from CenterPoint Energy in the amount of $1,713.68 is hereby adopted.
