BACKGROUND/J USTI FICATION:
On August 4, 2014, the City Council reviewed the proposed 2015 Legal Department budget including a
request from MacArthur Law Office, LLC., for a $5.00 per hour increase for general legal services and a
$10.00 per hour increase in pass through fees both with an effective date of January 1, 2015. This is the
first rate increase in over ten years. The Council requested that the rate increase be placed on the
consent agenda for approval.

Request for Rate Increase
Dear Ms. Johnson:
I am proposing a rate increase for legal services from $145.00 per hour to $150.00
per hour for general legal services effective January 1, 2015. I would also request
an increase in the pass through Developer's fees from $160.00 to $170.00 per hour
effective on the same date.
No increases in legal service fees have been requested over the last ten plus years.
