PR Minutes 01-17-23 OTSEGO PARKS AND RECREATION Prairie Center January 17, 2023 7:00 PM Call to Order. Chair Kitty Baltos called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Roll Call: Chair Kitty Baltos; Commissioners: Angie Dehn, Liz Benoit, Jessica Schaffer. Absent: Commissioner. Matt Danzl City Council: Council Members Brittany Moores and Ryan Dunlap Staff: Nick Jacobs, Parks and Recreation Director and Connie Schwecke, Recreation Coordinator. Open Forum. Betsy Engel 7299 Lambert Ave NE. Ms. Engel, the president of (ROYBA), Rogers Otsego Youth Baseball Association president requested commissioners to move forward tonight with the plan to Improve the Prairie Park Baseball Fields. Ms. Engel explained that over half the baseball players in ROYBA live in Otsego and that the City of Rogers is wanting to increase fees to Otsego residents who use their fields. The ROYBA president is asking that a priority be made at the baseball complex to at least have covered dugouts due to inclement weather especially the heat and rain. 2. Consider Agenda Approval. Commissioner Dehn motioned to approve the agenda. Seconded by Commissioner Benoit. All in favor. Motion carried. 3. Consider Meeting Minutes. 3.1 November 15, 2023 Regular Meeting Minutes. Commissioner Dehn motioned to recommend to the City Council to approve all meeting minutes as written. Seconded by Commissioner Benoit. All in favor. Motion carried. 4. Unfinished Business. 4.1 Prairie Park Ballfield Improvements. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs presented memo. After discussion, the commissioners agreed to table the Prairie Park Ballfield Improvement Plan and requested staff to look for additional funding through grants and corporate partnerships. Commissioners also directed staff to look into alternative equipment options and to keep this improvement plan in the forefront by bringing back some more information at the next commission meeting. Commissioner Dehn motioned to recommend to the City Council to table the Prairie Park Ballfield Improvement Plan. Seconded by Commissioner Schaffer. All in favor. Motion carried 5. New Business. 6. Parks and Recreation Update. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs presented parks update. Recreation Coordinator Schwecke presented the recreation update. 7. City Council Reports. City Council Member Moores presented City Council Report. 8. Adjourn. Commissioner Schaffer motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner Benoit. All in favor. Motion carried. Adjourned at 7:54 P.M.
