PR Minutes 06-27-23 OTSEGO PARKS AND RECREATION Prairie Center June 27, 2023 7:00 PM Call to Order. Vice Chair Angie Dehn called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Roll Call: Vice Chair Angie Dehn; Commissioners: Liz Benoit, Jessica Schaffer Kurt Baldry, and Norman Witteborg. Absent: Chair Kitt Baltos and Commissioners Matt Danzl City Council: Council Members Brittany Moores and Ryan Dunlap Staff: Nick Jacobs, Parks and Recreation Director and Connie Schwecke, Recreation Coordinator Kevin Martinez Del Arca, Recreation Intern. Open Forum. Lori Mielke who lives at 10547 74th Ln NE Otsego requested a bocce ball court in one of the city parks. Ms. Mielke stated that it is a good sport to play and a great option if you are unable to play pickleball. Ms Mielke also complimented the city trails and the Touch A Truck event. Chair Dehn thanked her for coming and stated they would have further discussions on the matter. 2. Consider Agenda Approval. Commissioner Benoit motioned to approve the agenda. Seconded by Commissioner Schaffer All in favor. Motion carried. 3. Consider Meeting Minutes. 3.1 May 16 Regular Meeting Minutes. Commissioner Baldry motioned to recommend to the City Council to approve all meeting minutes as written. Seconded by Commissioner Benoit. All in favor. Motion carried. 4. Unfinished Business. 5. New Business. 5.1 Ashwood Concept Plan and Prairie Park Master Plan. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs presented memo. Commissioner Baldry asked the size of Ashwood Park. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs stated it is 2.1 acres. Vice Chair Dehn asked if there would be a parking lot at the park. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs stated there could be a parking lot. After discussion, the commissioners agreed to move forward with the Ashwood Park Plan. Commissioner Baldry motioned to recommend to the City Council to approve moving forward with the Ashwood Concept Plan. Seconded by Vice Chair Dehn. All in favor. Motion carried. After discussion, the commissioners agreed to move forward with the Prairie Park Concept Park Plan. Vice Chair Dehn highly recommends advisory groups of users and owners and using Social Pinpoint. Commissioner Schaffer motioned to recommend to the City Council to approve moving forward with the Prairie Park Master Concept Plan. Seconded by Commissioner Benoit. All in favor. Motion carried. 6. Parks and Recreation Update. Parks and Recreation Director Jacobs presented parks update. Recreation Coordinator Schwecke presented the recreation update. 7. City Council Reports. City Council Member Moores presented City Council Report. 8. Adjourn. Vice Chair Dehn motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner Witteborg. All in favor. Motion carried. Adjourned at 7:42P.M.
