ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED?
No No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2024 General Fund Budget includes the addition of a full-time Information Technology Manager position. This new
position is aligned with the retirement of the City’s current IT Service Provider, Rob Snavely, with Softronics, who has
provided exceptional service to the City for 35 years. This position provides technical expertise and operational support
of the City’s information technology and security systems. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, managing
information systems, and department policies.
The City of Otsego initiated the recruitment process for an Information Technology Manager in October of 2023. The City
received 45 applications, and interviewed 7 individuals. City Staff has unanimously decided to recommend Ben Boyd to
the position of Information Technology Manager. Ben has accepted the offer and has successfully passed the required
background screening. Ben plans to start employment with the City in mid-January, after completion of his current
employer notice requirements.
Staff recommends the hiring of Ben Boyd for the Information Technology Manager position at Pay Grade 13, Step 1, and
Paid Time Off at the accrual of 2 years of service.
