DANIEL LICHT Subject:Costco To whom it may concern: We would like to express our concern regarding the potential rezoning of land and building a Costco near Emma's gas station. We live less than a 1/2 mile from the location of the potential Costco, in Magnolia Landing. We live right at the entrance of the neighborhood, so right off of county road 37/60th street. Our concern with adding such a popular/busy store such as Costco in a residential area is that there will most definitely be an increase in traffic on our road. People coming from Elk River, Zimmerman, Otsego, etc. will be driving on this road to get to the Costco. Also, there are already numerous car accidents at the 94 albertville exit, if you add a Costco to that location, its going to back traffic up even more (even WITH the proposed round about), causing even more accidents than there already are. This is a residential area and adding a large retail store such as Costco is not a good idea. In addition to dealing with the nightmare of the additional traffic, there is also all of the road construction that would need to be done ahead of time to add all of the proposed round abouts for this. There seem to be MANY other locations that would be more fitting for a popular retail location such as Costco, but a residential neighborhood is not one of them. We feel the safety of residents should be a number one concern, and adding something like this with increased traffic is a very poor idea for the residents that live nearby and everyone who travels the roads near it as well. Please reconsider rezoning this land. Many residents chose this area to live due to the fact that it was NOT zoned for business, and we'd like to keep it that way. You may contact me at 320-267-7292.
