City staff recommends the City Council accept quotes and authorize a well reconditioning project.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2024 Utility Budget includes funding for municipal well inspections and reconditioning maintenance. Well 5 located
within the west water district was drilled in 2003 and was scheduled as a priority for maintenance. The water source is
from the Mt. Simon Aquifer, providing excellent water quality and capacity benefits for the public water system.
Quotes were sought and received from three professional well contractors ranging from $138,320.00 to $171,775.00.
The low quote was provided by EH Renner and Sons who is a competent contractor for this service with staff supporting
recommendation of authorization.
The amount budgeted for 2024 is $150,000 which provides funds for well development, sand removal, a variety of
equipment replacements and test pumping. Cost variations are expected and will be assessed at the time of inspection
and accounted within requested quotes.
The Public Works Subcommittee was presented with this information at their February 21, 2024, meeting and provided
direction for City Council consideration of approval.
