95-29Councilmember Heidner introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NUMBER 95-29
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF AN INTERNAL REVENUE SECTION 125
INSURANCE BENEFIT PLAN
WHEREAS, The City of Otsego realizes the value of its employees, and
WHEREAS, The City chooses to offer its employees health, dental and life
insurance benefits, and
WHEREAS, The City also chooses to offer its employees the benefit of a flexible
benefit plan designed to provide employees a method of choice between cash
compensation or additional premium payments by the City for health and dental coverage,
thus allowing that coverage to be provided in a tax -effective manner.
WHEREAS, The City will administer an IRS Section 125 "Cafeteria Plan" for its
employees, and
WHEREAS, The Business/Finance Director will be appointed as the Administrator
and. Claims Processor of the Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Otsego adopts the
attached Internal Revenue Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan for the City and appoints the
Business/Finance Director as Administrator and Claims Processor of the Plan.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Councilmember Fournier and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof. Mayor Freske, Councilmembers Ackerman, Black, Fournier and Heidner and the
following voted against the same; none, whereupon said resolution was passed this 28th
day of August, 1995.
