ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROU N D/J USTI FICATION: In 2014, the City will be entering into its second year in the leadership role for producing and promoting the Otsego Prairie Festival. Although rain forced closing the Festival early in 2013, many vendors and exhibitors stated that they had close to a record day. Also in 2013, Otsego Rod and Custom brought in over 230 cars for their show, which is the most they've had at the festival to date. The Prairie Festival Committee has again been working hard to involve local businesses and community groups. Many of these groups have chosen to donate their talents to the Prairie Festival, including Speedpro Imaging, Scharber & Sons, Rockwoods, Lowe's, Design KW, Brandy's Boutique, who together are contributing a combined $9,500 worth of in-kind services. Other groups like, Otsego River Riders, Cub Scouts and Otsego Rod and Custom are going to be volunteering well over 220 hours during the day of the festival. The groups and businesses listed on the attached resolution have generously donated monetarily to the Prairie Festival this year and are excited to see the growth the event has seen over the past couple of years. These businesses donated a total of $6,500 for 2014, which allows the committee to continue to provide fireworks, bands, and entertainment free to the public.
