City staff is recommending City Council approve the hiring of a Temporary Finance position.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Due to a temporary vacancy for an employee on medical leave in the Finance Department, City staff explored options
for temporary staffing in the department. Staff has identified an individual to fill a temporary position who has
interviewed and successfully completed pre-employment screening for the position.
City staff is recommending hiring Jennifer Swendsen for the position, who is currently retired but has worked in
municipal finance prior to retirement. This position is pre-determined to be temporary and not to extend beyond six
months. The position will not be eligible for benefits besides Earned Sick and Safe Time.
Responsibilities of the position include escrow account maintenance, preparation of entries for cash receipts, payroll,
cash disbursements, assistance with special assessments, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, utility billing, and
any additional special projects as assigned by the City Administrator/Finance Director.
