Subject: Strong Support for the Otsego Fire Station – A Crucial Step for Our Community
Dear Council Members/City Leaders,
As a concerned citizen of Otsego, I am writing to express my full support for the proposed Otsego Fire
Station. While I may not have all the hard data, it's clear to me that this project is urgently needed to
ensure the safety and security of our growing community.
Since moving to Otsego, I have noticed the strain placed on our neighboring fire departments, which rely
heavily on volunteers. This leads to delayed response times—something I believe we cannot afford when
lives and property are on the line. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a house fire, or a vehicle accident,
every minute counts. The idea that emergency response could be improved by as much as 50% with our
own fire station is a huge step forward. For me and many other residents, that kind of improvement is not
just a number—it's peace of mind.
I understand some residents may be hesitant due to concerns about cost, but as someone who cares
deeply about the future of our community, I believe this is a wise and necessary investment. The cost of
2
doing nothing is far greater. If we continue to rely on outside departments whose call volumes are
already exceeding their limits, we will face longer delays, fewer resources, and potentially disastrous
consequences. Neighboring cities are already transitioning to limited full-time fire staff, and Otsego
needs to follow suit to ensure we are not left behind in terms of preparedness.
We cannot afford to wait any longer to prioritize the safety of Otsego. The city has grown significantly, and
our emergency services need to grow with it. I urge you to give this project your full support for the sake of
our community’s future.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
