RECOMMENDATION:
City staff recommends the City Council approve a vacant land purchase agreement.
ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED?
Yes No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Utility Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) identifies project funding for a future centralized water filtration facility to
meet upcoming water production and water quality benefits. The 2025 Utility CIP budget allocated funds for a
property purchase to support this future improvement.
A suitable location was identified based on water availability, water system connectivity, size, zoning, access, wetlands
and minor utilities availability. The City Council has held closed sessions to develop an offer for the purchase of real
property and authorized City Staff to draft necessary purchase agreements.
Property owner representation has agreed to sell the property to the City, agreed to a purchase price and has
provided a signed purchase agreement. Pending City Council approval of the purchase agreement, City staff will
arrange for a closing on the property.
City Attorney Kendall has prepared the purchase agreement and is recommending City Council consideration of
approval.
