AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends the City Council approve the Plans and Specifications and Order Advertisement for Bids for the 2021 Street Maintenance Project and the 2021 Micro -Surfacing Project. No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: Attached are plans and specifications for the 2021 Street Maintenance Project and the 2021 Micro - Surfacing Project. The Street Maintenance Project (SMP) includes seal coating, fog sealing, traffic control and striping of various street throughout the City according to the current street maintenance schedule and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). In 2020 the City implemented a revised maintenance program which incorporates micro -surfacing of both collector and local streets. With the new program, streets receive a single seal coat treatment before being micro -surfaced. These projects have separate plans and specifications and are bid separately so as to attract as many bidders as possible in order to receive the most competitive bids for each project. Both projects are scheduled to start after July 15, 2021 to allow the City Public Works Department to perform the patching necessary as well as having the contracted crack filling completed. The Street Management Program which is part of the CIP for the City has a budget for the 2021 projects in the amount of $573,926. Now that plans have been completed, the total estimated project costs for the SMP are $173,866.35 and for the Micro -Surfacing Project is $392,153.33 for a total of $566,019.68.
