City staff is recommending the City Council approve the hiring of the Utility Office Coordinator position.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Utility Office Coordinator recruitment began in April, and there was over 60 applicants for the position, with three
advancing for interviews. This position is a 0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week, and this position is eligible for benefits at a
pro-rated amount. This role’s core duties include supporting customer service, scheduling with a variety of regulatory
programs including service line inventories, chloride minimization, backflow prevention, mercury minimization and
advancement of irrigation initiatives. After completion of interviews staff recommend the hiring of Linda Canton.
Linda successfully completed preemployment screening, recommending hiring at Pay Grade 3, Step 2 anticipating a
June 9 starting date and be officed at the West WWTF.

Motion to approve the hiring of Linda Canton for the Utility Office Coordinator position with compensation at pay
grade 3 step 2; and 5-year service credit for Paid Time Off accrual.
