01-21-04 WSITEM 3_2 CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP 5:30 PM WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2004 I. Mayor Fournier call the Workshop to order: Mayor Fournier called the Workshop to order at 5:52 PM. Roll Call: Mayor Larry Fournier; Council members: Vern Heidner, Virginia Wendel, Jerry Struthers and Dan Scharber. Staff. Mike Robertson, City Administrator and Judy Hudson, City Clerk/Zoning Adm. 2. Discussion of Park Commission guidelines and projects CM Scharber started the discussion out with his concern that at many of Park Commission Meeting members show up wondering what needs to be done. He pointed out that there are a lot of new members and they want guidelines and direction from the City Council. The Council came up with the following suggestions: Finalize construction plans for Lilly Pond Park, start working on the plans for the proposed park by the West Wastewater Treatment Plant, research and plan for a Community Center. The Council direction to the staff was: A. Dan Licht is to put together information for the proposed park near the West WW Treatment Plant for presentation at a future Park commission meeting. B. Dan Licht is to write a letter supporting increasing the Park and Trail Fees for community centers. C. Give all Park Commission Members copies of the Park and Trail Plan. D. Information Packets for new members. The City Council supports the activity events in the Park and they support using Community Education for this. The City Council also would like the General Fund reimbursed for the land purchase of Prairie Creek Park. Dan Licht will determine what portion of the site is used by parks. The City Council supported discontinuing using the Haunted House if the Parks Commission agreed. City Council Workshop of January 21, 2004. Page 2. I Any other business.
