CITY COUNCIL SEWER WORKSHOP

1. Mayor Fournier call the Workshop to order:
Mayor Fournier called the Workshop to order at 4:06 PM.
Roll Call: Mayor Larry Fournier; Councilmembers: Vern Heidner, Virginia
Wendel, Jerry Struthers and Dan Scharber.
Staff: Mike Robertson, City Administrator; Judy Hudson, City Clerk and Ron
Wagner, City Engineer.
Others: Kurt Neidermeier, People's Services; Ted Field, Glen Gustafson and
Karen Cavett from Bonestroo.
2. Discussion of Sewer Treatment Plants.
Karen Cavett reported on the West Treatment Plant construction, which should
be on line October 2004. She went over color selection and the consensus of
the Council was to use grey or light tan colors. Ms. Cavett also went over a
Change Order for $99,700. The Council directed staff to put this on the next City
Council Agenda.
Ted Field handed out information on the East Plant Phase III expansion giving
information on sludge handling alternatives and a site plan for expansion.
Mr. Field explained he needs to know if the City is going with the sludge drying
process within the next two months. Mr. Fields suggested a tour of a plant to
see the sludge drying process.
Also discussed was constructing the expansion in two phases.
Mayor Fournier set March 29, 2004 from 9:30 AM for the day for the tour. Mayor
Fournier also wants a meeting to discuss the issues of the size of the plant and
the process of sludge.
3. Discussion of Water Systems.
Ron Wagner updated the Council on the construction progress of the Water
Tower No. 2, which is completed except for the painting. The Bid Opening for
Well No. 6 (east side) will be on March 30, 2004 at 2 PM. Ron also discussed the
new route for the force main for the West Treatment Plant.
4. Any other Council Business.
Ron Wagner updated the Council that his firm will soon be surveying the Island
View Estates erosion area. Also there will be a information meeting at Wright
County regarding the Otsego Dike. Mayor Fournier and Ron Wagner will be
attending.
