CITY OF OTSEGO
COUNTY OF WRIGHT, MINNESOTA
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO TO
REQUIRE FIRE INSPECTIONS OF COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL AND
INSTUTUTIONAL BUILDINGS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. Chapter 4, Section 2 of the City Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
4-2-3: OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE: Fire sprinkler systems,
fire hydrants, standpipe systems, fire alarm systems, portable fire extinguishers,
smoke and heat ventilators, smoke -removal systems, coiling fire doors,
emergency exit lights and other fire -protective or extinguishing systems or
devices shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times and shall be
repaired or replaced when defective.
Section 2. Section 4-2-3 of the City Code is hereby renumbered and amended
to read as follows:
4-2-4: PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS:
A. A permit required by the Fire Code shall be obtained by submission of an
application to the Department of Building Safety along with any fee
established in Section 2-4-2 of the City Code.
B. Inspections:
1. The fire protective and/or extinguishing systems for commercial,
industrial and institutional buildings shall be inspected by the Fire
Chief, Building Official or their designee every two (2) years based
on a schedule determined by the Building Official.
2. The Fire Chief, Building Official or their designee may enter upon
private property at any time for the purpose of operating and
maintaining fire hydrants.
C. Inspections required by the Fire Code and this Section shall be scheduled
by the Department of Building Safety and shall require payment of any fee
established in Section 2-4-2 of the City Code.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and publication.
