RESOLUTION NO. 2011-35
RESOLUTION APPPROVING CITY ADMINISTRATOR EMPLOYMENT
AGREEMENT WITH LORI JOHNSON
WHEREAS, the previous Otsego City Administrator resigned effective March 22,
2011; and
WHEREAS, the City Council began the process of looking for a new City
Administrator through solicitation of quotes for employment search services; and
WHEREAS, former Elk River City Administrator Lori Johnson submitted her
resignation to Elk River effective on June 6, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson contacted the City of Otsego with interest in the vacant
Administrator position; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson has met with the Otsego City Council and they have
reviewed her qualifications and references and find her to be highly qualified for
the position; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson has served the City of Elk River for 26 years as a
Financial Officer and City Administrator and is familiar with the problems faced
by communities in the area in general and is familiar with the various local units
of government; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson has demonstrated that she has an understanding of the
opportunities and challenges facing Otsego; and
WHEREAS; her background and experience will be invaluable to the City of
Otsego and will allow her to immediately commence her service as City
Administrator without a lengthy period of orientation; and
WHEREAS; hiring Ms. Johnson will save the taxpayers of Otsego the cost and
time of going through a search process; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Ms. Johnson have both reviewed the terms and
conditions of the attached Employment Agreement; and
WHEREAS, both the City Council and Ms. Johnson are satisfied with the terms
and conditions of the Employment Agreement as presented.
NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved by the Otsego City Council as follows:
1. The City Council hereby approves the attached Employment Agreement,
subject to a background check.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the
Employment Agreement on behalf of the City of Otsego.
