PROJECT NAME_: International single -axle dump truck replacement
CATEGORY Improvemen Equip. x
Useful Life 15-20 Years Building Maint. Other
Replacing #02, a 1995 International single -axle dump truck with a new single -axle truck outfitted
with a roll -off chassis which allows for a variety of different uses.
JUSTIFICATION
The 1995 International is being recommended for replacement because it is the oldest buck in the
City's snow removal fleet. We have experienced mechanical problems with the hydraulic system
and the truck's operating systems have reached their useful life. With the condition of this truck
being what it is, the only time it is used is during snow removal operations. Staff is recommeding
that it be replaced with another single -axle truck that is outfitted with a roll -off chassis that allows
for mulitple different uses of the same truck. The truck can be equipped with a dump body, sander
body, hot -box for blacktop patching, flat beds, tanker body, etc. This will allow for the department
Ito use this truck in multiple applications year round.

Replacement of #4, a 2006 Ford F-350 truck equipped with a dump box and snow plow.
The 2006 F-350 is being recommended for replacement because of a couple of different factors.
Staff has recently created a vehicle rating system which is based on: Age, Mileage, Maintenace
Cost, Condition and Level of Use. Based on those factors, #4 had the highest rating out of all of
the medium duty vehicles in that category. Even though other vehicles may have higher miles or
be in slightly worse condition, staff feels that it is a better decision to replace the higher ranked
vehicles when the need arises. This particular vehicle has been used extensively by the Streets
Department regardless of the season. In the summer it is typically hauling heavy loads or pulling
heavy equipment. It has been a primary response unit in the snow removal fleet taking care of cul-
de-sacs. These duties are extremely hard on the equipment and those uses have been taken into
consideration prior to malting this recommendation. Staff has reviewed the needs of the
department's, and has agreed that this is a replacement that should be considered.

The Parks zero turn mowers have become a valuable tool with the amount of mowing the parks department does on a weekly
basis. These zero turn have a 60 inch deck and are able to mow around areas where the large area mower cannot. The
estimated trade-in value for the 2010 zero turn is $4,000, it was purchased for $9,862 and has approximately 760 hours on it.
The proposed new mower would also have a 60 inch deck and has a quoted price at $9019.
