CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP

Roll Call: Otsego City Council: Mayor Larry Fournier,
Councilmembers Virginia Wendel, Jerry Struthers, Vern
Heidner, and Dan Scharber.
City Staff: City Administrator Michael Robertson, City Clerk
Judy Hudson, Wastewater Plant Operator Kurt Niedermeyer,
Bonestroo Engineers Ted Field and Karen Cavett.
Mayor Fournier called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
East Otsego Wastewater Treatment Plant Update - Ted Field
estimated that expansion of the East WWTP to one million
gallons per day (GPD) capacity would cost about
$5,000,000.00. He estimated that to expand to a capacity of
one million, five hundred thousand GPD would cost about
$9,000,000.00. After discussion, Council was in consensus to
direct staff to estimate water system costs based on a 1.5
million GPD scenario, and then to estimate financing for both
systems.
West Otsego Wastewater Treatment Plant Update - Karen Cavett
described the bids received for the plant, and reviewed the
options for ultraviolet (UV) treatment. Council was in
consensus that the low bidder for UV treatment was fine.
Council was also in consensus that the proposed landscaping
plan was fine.
With no other business, Mayor Fournier adjourned the meeting
at 6:47 p.m.
