RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council accept a donation from Midwest Landscapes Wholesale of 20 trees
worth $10,350 which have been planted on the City Campus along Nashua Avenue.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
In February, Midwest Landscapes of Otsego contacted Staff about donating trees that are currently
planted on property they lease. This lease was expiring and Midwest Landscapes needed to remove
their current stock of trees from the leased property. Since the initial conversation with staff, Midwest
Landscapes has learned that they are able to continue with the lease, however, they are still interested
in moving forward with the donation.
The trees have been planted already on the City Campus along the West side of Nashua Avenue. The
trees were placed as to not interfere with any future expansion of Nashua Avenue or park amenities.
The Administrative Sub -Committee reviewed the donation request at their October 8th, 2014 meeting.
The Committee voted unanimously to accept the donation from Midwest Landscapes.

RESOLUTION NO. 2014-79
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM MIDWEST
LANDSCAPES TO THE OTSEGO PARKS AND RECREAITON
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Midwest Landscapes has made a donation of 20 trees totaling
$10,350 to the Otsego Parks and Recreation Department; and,
WHEREAS, the donation to the Otsego Parks and Recreation Department is for
the purpose of adding amenities to the City Campus; and,
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations or
real or personal property be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the
governing body; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Otsego sincerely thanks Midwest landscapes for their
generous donation and for its support of the community; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota that the donation by the before mentioned
busineeses is hereby accepted.
ADOPTED this 8h day of December, 2014 by the Otsego City Council.
