COMMISSION WORKSHOP
DISCUSSION OF LEGAL ISSUES
Roll Call: Council: Mayor Larry Fournier, Councilmembers
Jerry Struthers, Vern Heidner, Suzanne Ackerman, and
Virginia Wendel.
Planning Commissioners: Carl Swenson, David Thompson,
Richard Nichols, Ken Fry, Steve Schuck, Pat Moonen, and Gene
Goenner.
Park & Recreation Commissioners: Terry Long.
Economic Develoyment Authoritv Advisory Commissioners: Tom
Koerwitz.
Historic Preservation Commissioners: Joy Swenson, Joanie
Nichols, and Elaine Norin.
City Staff: Michael Robertson, City Administrator; Dan
Licht, City Planner; and Andy MacArthur, City Attorney.
Mayor Fournier welcomed everyone to the meeting and said the
purpose of the meeting was for the City Attorney to review
what City Commissions could and could not do.
City Attorney MacArthur reviewed the State Statutes
governing the incorporation of Otsego and the creation of
the various City advisory commissions. He discussed the
Open Meeting law, liability and immunity issues, Conflict of
Interest, the Gift law, and answered questions.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:05
p.m.
