RECOMMENDATION:
Discuss if and how Otsego wants to celebrate its 25th anniversary as a City.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 25th anniversary of the City of Otsego's incorporation on November 15, 1990, is coming up this year.
The City has grown and changed significantly in the past 25 years — there is an interesting and very
positive story to tell about the first 25 years of the City of Otsego's history.
At a recent Administrative Subcommittee meeting, the Subcommittee discussed ideas for marking that
anniversary, and all agreed that this item should be considered by the Council early in 2015 to allow
adequate time for planning if some type of recognition/celebration of the anniversary is going to take
place.
Direction from the Council is requested on the concept of celebrating the City's 25th anniversary. If the
Council wants to explore ideas and recognize the anniversary, an organizing committee should be
appointed to plan and organize the celebration. And, in the very near future, if this does indeed
proceed, the Council would need to identify a funding source and adopt a budget for the anniversary
recognition/celebration.
