IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No I No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: As the recreation program grows so does the need for staffing at all levels. We have hired Recreation Program Lead positions to run such programs as Tiny Tot Time, Parks & Recreation Days at the Holiday Inn Water Park, Soccer Clinics, and special events. The Recreation Program Assistant position would be used to help the Recreation Program Lead run the class when the class level reaches a certain point. Staff monitors these levels, and when the levels reach a certain point that adding a program assistant would be paid for through registration fees City staff would then hire a program assistant to help with the program. Recreation Assistants will also be used when large programs like Entertainment in the Park reaches levels where additional staff is needed. The difference between a program assistant and a program lead is their responsibility and experience. Our Recreation Program Lead staffs are paid between $10.00-$14.00 per hour and are hired to run programs and are also responsible for helping with program content and overall supervision of that program. Recreation Program Assistant staff are paid between $7.25-$9.00 per hour and are hired to assist the program lead with program implementation. We also currently have two employees who started as Recreation Program Assistants in June of 2013. And now with their age, experience, and responsibilities they qualify as Recreation Program Lead staff. This will allow them to lead programs, activities, and assistant with program content. All summer seasonal staff's schedules revolve around programs and events that have factored in their hourly wage.
