ITEM 3.8 Boulder Creek0 OtCIezoF MINNESOTA V DEPARTMENT INFORMATION Request for City Council Action ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: REQUESTOR: MEETING DATE: Planning City Planner Licht 27 July 2015 PRESENTER(s): REVIEWED BY: ITEM #: Consent Agenda X.X — Boulder Creek AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: City staff recommends approval of an exemption from the Wright County septic point of sale ordinance for an existing house within the Boulder Creek development. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No. No. BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: Mattamy Homes, Inc. is developing the Boulder Creek subdivision within the east sewer district, which includes single family homes served by City sanitary sewer and water utilities. There is an existing single family dwelling within the property that will be incorporated as part of future phases of the development when final platted. At that time, the house will either be removed or would be required to connect to City utilities. The developer is requesting an exemption from the Wright County septic point of sale ordinance to allow the house to continue to use the existing septic system until such time as sanitary sewer and water utilities are extended with future final plats. The City has previously approved such temporary exemptions for existing dwellings within developing subdivisions to avoid the cost of installing a new septic system when the dwelling will either be removed or connected to City utilities.
