RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the hiring of Christopher Vogel at the Maintenance II position and Miguel Santamaria
for the Maintenance I position.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Staff has completed the application and interview processes for the two vacant Street Department
positions.
Christopher Vogel was the most qualified applicant for the Maintenance II position. He has passed the
background testing and drug testing. The Maintenance II position is a pay grade 9 and we are
recommending that he be placed at a step 6 upon hire.
Miguel Santamaria was the most qualified applicant for the Maintenance I position. He has passed the
background testing and drug testing. The Maintenance I position is a pay grade 6 and we are
recommending that he be placed at a step 1 upon hire.
Both applicants would be available two weeks after Council has made their decision.

Motion to approve the hiring of Christopher Vogel at pay grade 9, step 6 and Miguel Santamaria at pay
grade 6, step 1 for the vacant Street Maintenance II/I positions respectively.
