Earlier this month, City Staff was contacted by representatives from Girl Scout Troop 13951 about their
Troop participating in a "Sleep in a Box" event at Prairie Park on October 3ra
The Troop would like to participate in the "Sleep in a Box" event to raise awareness for homelessness in
the Minneapolis area. The group would like to host the event at Prairie Park and is requesting that the
park hours be adjusted for their event. Currently, the park hours are defined by 6-7-3 Section A of the
City Code as being 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., these hours can be temporarily modified by Council action.
Staff will work with Troop representatives to make sure that the Wright County Sheriff's Department is
notified and that the park is prepared for their event.
At the July Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the commission unanimously voted to adjust the
park hours for Troop 13951's Sleep in the Box event.
