ITEM 3.3A OHP 7.14.2015 MinutesITEM 3_3A Otsego Heritage Preservation Commission —July 14, 2015 Present: Zonja Matushenko, Chris Wilson, Gail Anderson, Toni Seroshek Mayor Jessica Stockamp, City Planner Dan Licht Meeting was called to order by Toni Seroshek at 7:10pm. Added to the agenda was the issue of the new park name. Parks and Rec would like a couple of ideas to consider. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Books to be Rebound The two Elaine Norin books, In the Beginning and The Farm Years are the first books Lisa Fahey will rebind. The improved scanned pictures will go in an insert which will be located in the middle of each book. The original pictures will still be in the book. Kim wants two or three pictures we would like to use for each book's new cover. We need to do the scanning and locate the best cover photo or photos quickly if we are going to have the books by the Festival. Jessica did talk with Lisa about costs and we determined that these would be covered within our budget allotment. Gail will write the new introduction for each in a letter format. Otsego Festival OHPC plans to use our booth to promote the Silver Anniversary Party. We will have a smaller display of some of the relevant news articles from the City's history, sales of our books, the initial Celebration of the City's Incorporation in scanned pictures which are shown on a city computer if the technical details can be worked out and we will be taking orders for the shirts which will be available to order with samples commemorating the Silver Anniversary. City of Otsego Silver Anniversary Party Zonja is scanning the material from the book of pictures from the original celebration of the City's incorporation. She will add information about Commissions and other miscellaneous City information. Jessica spoke with Kim Welter and she liked Chris' drawing of City points of interest like the round barn. Jessica will gather a list of what other drawing, on white paper and in color, Kim will put on a map of the City. She will forward that to Chris. Gail has news stories from the few years prior to the City's incorporation as well as the 25 years of its history from the Elk River Star News and a few other sources. Gail and Chris will meet this Monday, July 20, at 10-12 to put together a collage of the best articles for the Otsego Prairie Festival in a frame system Chris has. They will come up with a theme like "From Township to City of Otsego." Chris will help Gail organize the materials into a theme for the Silver Anniversary where each story needs to be blown up into a 24' x 36' size and mounted individually on an easel. Easels will be interspersed between food and beverage serving sites. It is dark in the garage location so an attached battery light may be necessary on some or all. Park Signs & New Park Name Suggestions The Park Signs need to be developed for the other seven parks we have in Otsego. Dan is spearheading that project. OHPC voted to forward the following names to the Parks and Rec Commission: "Northwood Park" after the paper city Oliver Kelley and his brother had created and partly built at this location which never fully materialized, and "Roskaft Park", after Ing and 011ie Roskaft who lived on and owned this property for 52 years starting in1947. Ing was active on the County Board, Planning Commission for the township and for the City of Otsego. SHPO Conference SHPO Conference is in Little Falls this year the week after the Festival. We need two attendees from OHPC. This needs to be determined by next meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm. Gail Anderson, Recorder
