ITEM 3.7 Fencing at Public WorksOtscTe o MINNESOTA D DEPARTMENT INFORMATION Request for City Council Action ORGINATING DEPARTMENT: REQUESTOR: MEETING DATE: Public Works, Street Department Kevin Lamson Aug. 24, 2015 PRESENTER(s): REVIEWED BY: ITEM #: Consent Agenda Lori Johnson, City Administrator 3.7 AGENDA ITEM DETAILS RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends having Town & Country Fence perform the fencing expansion behind the public works facility. ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: The 2015 CIP includes the expansion of the fencing behind the salt shed to accommodate additional storage capacity for the City's Public Works Departments. The property transfer between the City and Mr. and Mrs. Melcher is well underway and the City has received written authorization from Mr. and Mrs. Melcher to move forward with the fencing expansion prior to the land transfer. Staff has requested quotes from Town & Country Fence and Bocephus Contracting for quotes on removing the existing north border of the fence line and expanding it to the north. We have received quotes of $16,000 and $20,200 respectively. The 2015 CIP had $18,000 budgeted for the improvement. Staff recommends that we have Town & Country Fence perform the fencing installation for the low quote of $16,000. They have performed other fencing projects for the City in the past and performed quality work. The Public Works Subcommittee was presented with this information and recommended that it be placed on consent agenda.
