RECOMMENDATION:
City staff recommends approval of a resolution accepting $5,000 worth of donations from various
businesses and community groups for sponsorship of the 2015 Otsego Prairie Festival.

BACKGROUNDMUSTIFICATION:
In 2015, the City will be entering into its third year in the leadership role for producing and promoting
the Otsego Prairie Festival. 2014 proved to be one of the biggest years for the festival yet, it is
estimated that we had over 5,000 people in attendance. Also in 2014 the fireworks, beer garden, and
bands were all activities that debut at the festival with overwhelming success.
The Prairie Festival Committee has again been working hard to involve local businesses and community
groups. Many of these groups have chosen to donate their talents to the Prairie Festival, including
Speedpro Imaging, Scharber & Sons, Rockwoods, Lowe's, Design KW, Brandy's Boutique, who together
are contributing a combined $9,500 worth of in -kind services. Other groups like, Otsego River Riders,
Cub Scouts, The Hog Club, and Otsego Rod and Custom are going to be volunteering well over 220 hours
during the day of the festival.
The groups and businesses listed on the attached resolution have generously donated monetarily to the
Prairie Festival this year and are excited to see the growth the event has seen over the past couple of
years. These businesses donated a total of $5,000 for 2015, which allows the committee to continue to
provide fireworks, bands, and entertainment free to the public.

RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR SPONSORSHIP OF THE
2015 OTSEGO PRAIRIE FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, The following Sponsors have made cash donations to the City
of Otsego for the 2015 Prairie Festival; and,

WHEREAS, the donation to the City of Otsego is for the purpose of
supporting provisions of community events in Otsego; and,
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 465.03 requires that all gifts and
donations or real or personal property be accepted only with adoption of a
resolution of the governing body; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Otsego sincerely thanks the before mentioned
businesses and community organizations for their generous donation and for their
support of the community; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota that the aforementioned donations are
hereby accepted.
ADOPTED this 24 day of August, 2015 by the City Council of the City of
Otsego.
