02-06-12 PCOTSEGO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
OTSEGO CITY HALL
FEBRUARY 6, 2012
7 PM
Call to Order.
Chair Black called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Roll Call: Chair Pam Black; Commissioners: David Thompson, Aaron Stritesky,
Tammie Fallon, and Richard Nichols and Jim Kolles. Absent: Brian Gerten
City Council: CM Vern Heidner. Staff: Daniel Licht, City Planner; and Tami Loff,
City Clerk.
1. Consider the following minutes.
1.1 October 17, 2011 Planning Commission Meeting_.
Commissioner Thompson motioned to approve as written. Seconded by
Commissioner Nichols. All in favor. Motion carried.
2. Public Hearing:
2.1 Amend Section 37 of the Zoning Ordinance clarifying provisions
regarding, prohibited signs.
City Planner Licht presented the Planners report. City Clerk Loff attested that all
the proper noticing, posting and publishing has been completed.
Chair Black opened the Public Hearing at 7:03 PM.
Chair Black asked if MnDot placement of signs for traffic management overrules
the City's Zoning Ordinance within its rights-of-way. City Planner Licht said
MnDot does have the ability to place those signs within their right-of-way as
"official signs".
Commissioner Thompson asked if Rockwood's still has their sign. City Planner
Licht said they have a non-moving fixed neon sign.
Hearing no public comment Chair Black closed the Public Hearing at 7:06 PM.
Commissioner Nichols motioned to approve a Zoning Ordinance
amendment regarding prohibited signs with no conditions. Seconded
by Commissioner Fallon. All in favor. Motion carried.
3. Non -Hearing Item:
3.1 Election of the 2012 Planning Commission Chair & Vice -Chair.
Commissioner Stritesky motioned to nominate Pam Black as Chair and
Dave Thompson as Vice -Chair. Seconded by Commissioner Nichols. All
in favor. Motion carried.
4. Update on City Council actions.
CM Heidner updated the commissioners on City Council actions.
Planning Commission Meeting February 6, 2012.
5. Update on Future Planning Commission Agenda items.
City Clerk Loff said the next scheduled meeting is on Tuesday, February 21, 2012
at 7:00 PM.
6. Adjourn.
Commissioner Fallon motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner
Stritesky. All in favor. Motion carried. Adjourned at 7:32 PM.
