ITEM 8.1 Grand Opening of 70th StreetRon Wagner From: Ron Wagner Sent: Thursday, October 08, 2015 2:04 PM To: 'Lori Johnson' Subject: RE: grand opening 70th St Invitees Lori I have put together some talking points. We can discuss at the council meeting who leads this. I was thinking a small open tent, lemonade, coffee, a table, a table covering, cookies, cups, napkins. A ribbon to cut and some scissors. Not sure who supplies all of these items. Again, good for council discussion — maybe a max budget for the grand opening $100 or $200. Not sure how much all of that would cost. Should also have a backup plan for detrimental weather. Maybe at PW garage if raining or too cold and windy. No fun to stand out there then. 1)Project has been planned since 1995 — Wright County Comprehensive Transportation Study — great to see such an important transportation connection complete with two future upgrades on either end being constructed soon. 2)Became a priority due to a)safety of the curves — steep ditch slopes — narrow road with virtually no shoulder b) increased traffic volumes c)providing an efficient method of connecting the growing west area of Otsego with the east area of Otsego d)provide some relief to CSAH 39 and other local streets- 83`d 3)Thank neighboring cities and county officials for entering into an agreement that works for all on jurisdiction of streets today and in future (truly a regional project) 4)Thank residents on the project for their extreme patience for a tough summer with the persistent weekly rains and the difficulty of access with all the formidable soil corrections that were necessary 5)Thank other residents for the increased amounts of traffic due to detour — Packard Avenue residents and for others who had to negotiate the detour 6)Thank Fehn and their subs for completing the project in the time frame allotted and maintaining access under sometimes very difficult situations 7)Thank Charlie and Brent for their dedication to ensuring the project progressed smoothly and keeping the residents informed and working through any issues with them. 8)Maybe talk about funding —that no direct City taxpayer dollars were needed to complete the project. Project will be paid entirely by County, Municipal State Aid funds and Federal grant. Let County Commissioners talk if they want, maybe sheriff on safety, Eric on time saving - that sort of thing. Let me know if I am missing anything. hHakanson Anderson Ronald J.
