ITEM 5.1ITEM 5.1 0 � 0 CITY a MINNESOTA TO: Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Ross Demant, Parks and Recreation Director DATE: October 15, 2015 RE: United Legacy Donation Request Background: On October 3, 2015 Joseph Brunn disappeared outside a hotel in Otsego. An extensive search followed that saw thousands of people from around the area volunteer for. A non-profit group, United Legacy Search, Rescue & Recovery assisted the family with the organizing the volunteers which eventually lead the recovery of Joseph Brunn. Since the search, the group has received many requests from area residents on how they can assist with future searches if and when needed. United Legacy is requesting that the City of Otsego donate the use of Prairie Center for a volunteer orientation on November 1St, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The cost to rent Prairie Center for 6 hours during non -business hours is $390. Deanna Villella who is the President and Co -Founder of Untied Legacy is unable to come to the Commission meeting in October; however, she has sent an email outlining her request which staff have attached to this memo. Conclusion: Staff is requesting that the Parks and Recreation Commission review the material included in this memo and make a recommendation to the City Council on the donation request from United Legacy.
