RE: Proposed Resolution No. 2015-53, Metro Appliance and Recycling
Resolution No 2015-53 was placed on the City Council agenda at the regular City Council meeting on
September 28, 2015. The matter was tabled and I was directed to get further clarification on the issue
from the firm doing the City Audit.
I sent an e-mail to the Auditor explaining in more detail the specifics of the matter and received a
response indicating that the Auditors would defer to my advice regarding mitigation of conflict of
interest. My opinion is still that the present method of approving occasional minor bills for recycling
items is appropriate, since we have no contractual obligation to use the recycling facilities and they are
used primarily for City staff convenience.
Based upon the above, no further action needs to be taken on the proposed resolution.
