Staff recommends approval of payment in the amount of$62,219.00 for the Lift Station #3 Improvement

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The 2015 Capital Improvement Plan includes a Utility project to increase pumping capacity at Lift Station
#3 (Project # UTIL-12-075). The Lift Station serves the growing population in the West Sanitary District
conveying all its wastewater to the West Wastewater Treatment Facility and is anticipated to reach
capacity in 2016.
The Sewer Fund allocated $85,000 dollars in 2015 to increase Lift Station #3 capacity. Project progress
includes the installation of an existing 40 horsepower submersible pump, the addition of a control
cabinet and three variable frequency drives, air conditioner and electrical services. The request of
$49,677.00 is in line with construction progress and project price of $74,177.00.
Total Control Systems Inc. is also requesting payment for the installation of Well #5 Variable Frequency
Drive of $12,542; the addition was a change order to replace the failed soft start for the well approved
at the September Public Works Subcommittee meeting. Well #5 is one of two production wells used for
the West Water System Supply. The soft start for the well has met useful life expectations.
Instrumentation, startup, manuals and project completion is on track for the November 201h deadline.
City staff recommends payment.
